First Cut! Youth Film Festival 2014 The First Cut! Youth Film Festival will be based in the Mall Arts Centre in Youghal this year and will run from Thursday, 27th February to Saturday, 1st March. The festival offers an exciting opportunity for young filmmakers, aged 12- 21 years, to gather together in a vibrant festival atmosphere for a rare chance to network and showcase their work. As well as the screenings of works by young filmmakers, the Festival will also include workshops, performances and the rare opportunity for budding filmmakers to learn from, and engage with, professional filmmakers. Panel discussions, Q&A sessions and hands-on workshops will take place in the Mall Arts Centre and in a variety of other locations during the Festival. The Festival will be opened by Killinascully star, Pascal Scott on Thursday evening at 6.30 pm in the Mall Arts Centre and everyone is invited! Seven short films will be shown to whet your appetite for what promises to be a great weekend of film. Friday, is schools day with the focus on primary school pupils in the morning and secondary school pupils in the afternoon. There is a full programme on Saturday for young film makers
Killeagh Inch Community Council is affiliated to Muintir na Tire. The Annual General Meeting of Cork County Federation of Muintir Na Tire will take place in Ballyphehane Community Centre in Cork City on Monday 23rd March at 7.30 PM. The Theme for this year’s AGM is “The Future of Rural Ireland” and the keynote speaker is Mr. Sean Sherlock TD.
We had a great night in the Old Thatch last Friday. 13 teams took part in our annual fundraiser for the Community Council. We’d like to thank a few people: All those who provided spot prizes The staff at the Thatch, who provided us with some snacks at half time! And, of course, all those who turned out and supported us. And the results: The team in first place was: Marion Seeeney; Finbarr Motherway, Mary Fitzgibbon and Rita Scannell The team in second place was: Brinsley & Niamh McDonnell and Coleman & Ina Motherway.
A busy week ahead! Tomorrow (Thursday 20th) there will be a coffee morning in Power’s pub, Mt. Uniake in aid of the Defibrillator Group. The morning will be from 10 – 12.30 and there will be great prizes for the raffle! On Friday there will be a table quiz in the Old Thatch from 9PM. the price is €40 for a table of 4. There will be plenty of food and lots of spot prizes!
